Virginia Legalizes Adult-Use Cannabis

Virginia became the first Southern state to legalize adult-use cannabis. Possession of up to an ounce of cannabis will be legal and adult-use cannabis may be sold, starting on January 1, 2024. With another state switching on the green light, the industry is expected to launch more cannabis jobs. Seth Rogen Will Launch His Cannabis Brand in the United States

Seth Rogen, famous for his comedic turns in cannabis-friendly films, has been working on a cannabis brand for the past 10 years: Houseplant. Our cannabis staffing company is excited that he’s finally bringing it to the United States–specifically California. In addition to cannabis products, Houseplant will be making ashtrays, lighters, and ceramics. Rogen says all the strains are hand-picked by him–including the first strain: Pancake Ice. California Considering a Bill to Ban Employers From Cannabis Use Discrimination 

A California bill has been proposed to restrict employers from terminating employees or denying candidates who test positive for cannabis. Additionally, this would also allow employees who face discrimination for cannabis use to take legal action. Employees under a federal mandate to drug test will not be affected by the bill. Results of First Medical Cannabis and Parkinson’s Disease Study Released

The Parkinson’s Foundation study entitled Weeding Through the Haze: A Survey on Cannabis Use Among People Living with Parkinson’s Disease in the U.S was held in January 2020. Over 1,000 complete responses were analyzed. Our cannabis staffing team is excited to hear that 82% of the participants want to learn more about cannabis and Parkinson’s Disease clinical trials. Veteran Groups Tell Congress They Want Access to Cannabis and Psychedelics 

The leaders of military veterans organizations submitted a written testimony to congressional lawmakers stating federal cannabis and psychedelics laws should be reformed to give veterans alternative treatment options. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a critical issue and research shows that cannabis can help. By allowing cannabis and psychedelics to PTSD and other mental health issues, opioid-related death could be reduced. Read more here.
