Our client, a vertically integrated cannabis cultivator is seeking a hands-on Controller for their Washington cultivation & processing facility.

The Controller will oversee and guide the activities of the accounting department, create controls, clean up where necessary and oversee their facilities. This person must have a CPA license, be a solid leader and will guide the company as they rapidly expand.

They will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reports, records, and information needed to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting needs of a growing company.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the operations of the accounting department in a cannabis business, especially their control systems, transaction-processing operations, and policies and procedures.
  • Prepare reports for the various regulatory agencies as required by law and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Ensure accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations and financial statements are processed in a timely manner.
  • P&L, cash flow and balance sheet transactions.
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions and manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts.
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external accountants for tax preparation.
  • Creates forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel, works with the Company’s ERP system.
  • Work with operations and purchasing on cost accounting and inventory management.
  • Understand the flow of inventory transactions, BOM and consolidating eliminating entries.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting
  • 7-10 years Agriculture or Manufacturing Accounting experience
  • Cost accounting experience in manufacturing environment
  • Public Accounting experience and (CPA) or (CMA) preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and Quick Books a plus

Compensation: $120K Plus Benefits
