Our client is seeking an experienced Tax Manager, preferably with experience in the cannabis industry. The Tax Manager role requires exceptionally strong organization, communication, and time management skills. A strong ability to sense urgency and prioritize tasks, especially near tax deadline dates. ** This is a fully remote opportunity with some travel for tradeshows and networking events.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare federal and multi-state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts; also prepares related income tax work papers
- Prepare and file tax return filings for C-Corp., S Corp., Partnership and Individual clients
- Collect relevant documentation and financial statements
- Identify accounting and income tax issues and proposes strategies to resolve them
- Represent clients to applicable agencies as needed
- Plan and develop overall return calendar and coordinate timing and inputs with tax team
- Properly research and seek advice from Managing Partners when confronted with challenging tax circumstances.
- Technical review tax return filings
- Identify opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures. Provide software and process recommendations.
- Monitor timeliness of tax filings
Requirements:
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field of study.
- 3-5 years of recognized Business tax preparation experience.
- Solution-oriented; problem-solver.
- Technology Skills: Proficient with technology; solid knowledge of computer operations and software.
- Self-Discipline & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment with minimal supervision. Problem-solving and critical thinking skills required to resolve clients bookkeeping.
- CPA license required.
- Some knowledge of accounting and tax in cannabis industry.
- Strong knowledge and familiarity of US Tax preparation (Business and Personal returns).
- Strong knowledge of US Tax Code- 280E
- Capacity and commitment to work 40 hours a week during traditional daytime business hours supporting clients.
- Credentials/Certifications: QuickBooks Online Pro Certification or QuickBooks Online Advanced Certifications are preferred.
Compensation: $130,000 – $150,000 on a base with healthcare, life insurance, and a 401K.
