CannabizTemp is seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist to join a dynamic and rapidly growing cannabis company headquartered in Culver City, CA. With eight operational dispensaries and seven different entities under our umbrella, they are a leader in the cannabis industry. The corporate office oversees the operations of over 200 employees across various locations. They are committed to excellence in all aspects of their business and are seeking a talented Payroll Specialist to join their team.
Responsibilities:

- Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and timely for over 200 employees using the Wurk software.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws, including payroll tax filings and reporting.
- Maintain accurate records of employee information, including salaries, benefits, and deductions.
- Coordinate with HR and other departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll changes, including new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary adjustments.
- Reconcile payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll-related matters.
- Generate and distribute payroll reports to management and finance teams as needed.
- Assist in year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and reporting.
- Stay updated on changes in payroll regulations and software updates, implementing best practices to improve payroll processes and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a multi-entity environment.
- Proficiency in using payroll software, specifically Wurk, is required.
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to resolve payroll-related issues efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Hybrid role with 3 days in office required.
Pay Rate:
$20-25/hr.
