Andres, MBA, has 18 years of progressive accounting and finance experience with large consumer goods, manufacturing, and food production industries.
In his free time for the last several years, he has studied and consulted in hemp businesses.
Andres conducted monthly P&L analysis with the cultivation, processing, and dispensary teams and led business reviews with the CEO, CFO, and COO.
He analyzed budget vs. actuals and performed trend analysis to develop strategic financial insights.
Andres partnered with Corporate Accounting to discuss adjustments, accruals, and known variances and developed the first go-to-market financial model created to analyze the NJ and NY capital investments for business expansion, licensing deals, mergers, and acquisitions.
He also enabled leadership to understand project NPV, ROI, IRR, cash flow, and payback periods for $65M in future investment spending.
During his time at a large wine and spirits company, Andres led the West Region cannabis task force and demonstrated how cannabis legalization impacts the beverage alcohol industry, trained senior management on the emerging cannabis chain and general market, and evaluated cannabis financials, including dispensary markup and margins.
He examined dispensary sales trends and cannabis consumer purchase behaviors to determine if there was a correlation between dispensary sales and liquor store sales.
He also provided an opinion on which cannabis companies, sectors, and brands would be suitable acquisitions for portfolio expansion.
Andres started his career in internal audit, learning all aspects of business, testing compliance, internal controls, and SOX, then progressed into accounting, completing journal entries and month-end and financial reporting.
He became a Plant Controller where he designed a cost tracking system, and then became a Finance Manager with strong financial modeling skills–he is not only well versed in operations but also sales and distribution.
Andres is also a strong coach for his teams and has developed, motivated, and positioned people on his teams for success, helping them achieve recognition shares and mastery levels.
