Our client, a leading manufacturer in the cannabis industry, is looking for a Senior Accountant to complete day-to-day accounting transactions including journal entries, account reconciliations, trial balance review, adjusting journal entries, month end close, preliminary financial statement preparation and variance reporting.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Balance and maintain accurate general ledger accounts. 
  • Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions. 
  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries. 
  • Create financial statements and related financial reports (monthly close process). 
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
  • Reviews and pays invoices, resolves any discrepancies with vendors and team. 
  • Prepare & file monthly sales tax returns.
  • Prepare annual 1099’s. 
  • Analyze financial information. 
  • Provide information to external accountants for audits and tax preparation. 
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system. 
  • Identify any accounting issues, research solutions, and propose remediation. 
  • Document accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls, and follow accordingly. 
  • Provide backup support for Accounting Clerks.
  • Provide support to the Financial Controller, or CEO as requested. 
  • Conducts periodic audits of transactions to ensure accuracy. 
  • Occasional cash management.
  • Prepare and post bank deposits. 

Requirements:
  • 5+ years’ experience in a general accounting role, including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and financial statements. 
  • Experience applying GAAP and Accounting principles. 
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related field. 
  • Highly organized, accurate and attention to detail. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication. 
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail. 
  • Demonstrates exceptional verbal and written communication. 
  • Able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Preferred Requirements: 
  • Ability to use multiple software platforms, including QuickBooks. 
  • Active CPA or advanced accounting coursework. 
  • Experience with Point of Sales systems (POS). 
  • Experience working in a regulated environment. 
  • Knowledge of the cannabis industry is not required for this position. 

Compensation: $65,000 – $85,000
