Darin is currently a Product Manager for a vaporizer hardware manufacturer where his responsibility is maintaining the product roadmap (carts, disposables, batteries, filling machines) from development through launch, guiding requirements/pricing, design, and post-launch sales support.
During his tenure, he launched 50+ SKUs, including the new filling machine business unit, which has 70+ machines installed.
Multiple SKUs developed or influenced by Darin have taken business away from key competitors, for example – the S10 sealed cartridge being used by an MSO, resulting in one of the largest purchase agreements in company history.
Darin learned vaporizer technology rapidly through daily direct exposure working with experienced vape engineers and vaporizer professionals on the USA team.
He takes a very hands-on approach to learning (learning by doing), which includes physical tear downs on all SKUs, and often being the first line of defense for technical support problems and writing multiple root cause analysis reports.
With 5+ years in brand and marketing, Darin understands the mindset of a marketing team which gives him an advantage on how to develop winning products that are met with excitement within the company, and how to get creative when products aren’t as exciting on paper or as feature-rich.
There’s also a critical business need to keep driving the current sellable products, and more specifically, the most profitable products in the catalog and to continue to build product updates and marketing pushes around those successful SKUs.
Free-to-play gaming companies gave Darin an early analytical and metric-based approach to building products–for example how sales data directly influences the roadmap, and how to keep a closer eye on trends/patterns that emerge within a company’s sales.
The bulk of his experience has been within startup cultures and often reporting to the CEO, which has shaped Darin’s sensitivity to the duration of projects and reinforced the importance of continual communication, and clear communication, both in speech and how information is shared.
Additionally, Darin enjoys working on vaporizer projects, in both independent and collaborative settings.
He has led multiple presentations for the executive staff at trade shows or at customer sites with the decision-makers to persuade them to buy products.
