CannabizTeam, the world’s premier executive search and staffing agency exclusively focused on the legal cannabis industry, announced its official partnership with the Last Prisoner Project (LPP). LPP is a nonprofit organization striving to reverse the injustice imposed on individuals who suffered convictions for non-violent cannabis offenses. The partnership mission is to support people affected by the War on Drugs by helping them seek stable employment in the legal cannabis industry.

Teaming Up For Restorative Justice In The Legal Cannabis Industry

LPP focuses on three primary criminal justice reform initiatives: prisoner release, record clearing, and re-entry plans. Through the Aim Higher program–CannbizTeam’s social equity platform–LPP and CananbizTeam will work together to provide job search assistance for individuals with cannabis convictions. Specifically, CananbizTeam’s Aim Higher program will help the target population navigate the job search/application and interview process. This will allow the affected individuals to present their unique skills, experiences, and values confidently and concisely.

Last Prisoner Project Evelyn Lachapelle

“The majority of Last Prisoner Project constituents are interested in obtaining employment opportunities in the legal cannabis industry. Our organization considers anybody who has been incarcerated for cannabis a pioneer of this now booming industry. It makes sense that these returning citizens would want a seat at the table within the legal industry and we are honored to be partnered with CannabizTeam to create pathways to employment for justice impacted individuals.” Mary Bailey, Managing Director of Last Prisoner Project

CannabizTeam is looking forward to collaborating with LPP. They are ready to help those harmed by discriminatory policies, as they have supported LPP from afar since their inception.

“It’s clear that the justice system disproportionately imprisons people of color for cannabis-related offenses. We feel it’s our responsibility to help our cannabis community, which is why we partnered with LPP. LPP inspires us, and we share their dedication to bringing restorative justice to the cannabis industry,” stated Liesl Bernard, CEO and Founder of CannabizTeam.

About Last Prisoner Project

The Last Prisoner Project (LPP) is a coalition of cannabis industry leaders, executives and artists who fight to bring restorative justice to the cannabis industry. The team members at LPP dedicate themselves in helping to release cannabis prisoners and assist them in rebuilding their lives. As the United States moves away from the criminalization of cannabis, giving rise to a major new industry, there remains the fundamental injustice inflicted upon those who have suffered criminal convictions and the consequences of those convictions. Through intervention, advocacy and awareness campaigns, the forces behind the Last Prisoner Project will work to redress the past and continuing harms of these unjust laws and policies, striving to ensure that every last victimless cannabis prisoner walks free.
