In May of this year, CannabizTeam released the latest edition of our Cannabis Industry Salary Guide, updated for Q2 2021. The national Salary Guide covers hot jobs and hiring trends in the U.S. cannabis industry, top states for cannabis jobs in 2020 and national salary ranges for more than 60 popular cannabis positions to help cannabis businesses and those seeking employment in the cannabis industry make informed decisions.
Chris Morris, a reporter specializing in business, finance and technology, recently wrote an article for Fortune summarizing some of the key findings from the salary guide: “Weed wages 2021: Who earns how much in the pot industry?” Fortune is a leading global media organization dedicated to helping its readers succeed in business by providing the reports, stories and tools necessary to make business better.
The article begins: “As marijuana continues to be legalized or decriminalized in a growing number of states, industry salaries are increasing at a comparable pace. Competition for experienced, talented workers is exploding, leading to sizable salary hikes in a number of fields over the last year. That competition is also forcing some companies to expand their search beyond the limits of the cannabis industry.”
The article continues to discuss the range in median salaries across the country, and highlights median salaries from the Salary Guide in a variety of industry verticals including cannabis C-level, cultivation, extraction, testing, manufacturing, retail, and sales and marketing.
“Salaries in some big cities are significantly higher than the median, but that’s what happens as legalization spreads,” the article concludes. “The fact that the median salary continues to climb underscores the growing potential of the industry.”
